Resources

Here are some resources I recommend, in the form of books and technology for solopreneurs.

Note that everything listed on this page I either use currently, or have read personally (at least once!).

Favourite books (in no particular order)

Getting Everything You Can Out of All You’ve Got – Jay Abraham

Highly recommended for anyone starting or already working on your own business. While relatively basic, it covers simple, practical tips to properly manage and grow any kind of business.

Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike – Phil Knight

Best book I’ve read in the last couple years – Phil’s story is incredible and every entrepreneur should read it to experience his struggles and lessons from building one of the most recognized brands in the world.

The 4-hour Work-week – Tim Ferris

A great book to shift your mindset on the opportunities we have within our grasp today, whether it be for running/growing a business or even testing a new side hustle. Also a great resource for finding other tools/websites/software that will make your life easier.

Tools of Titans – Tim Ferris

As someone who loves hearing tips, quotes and advice from successful people, this is basically a bible of them. Easy read, can flip to any page on any day and have some great takeaways.

Hypnotic Writing – Joe Vitale

A great book to improve your copywriting, and just writing in general. Whether you are constantly crafting sales pages, or even just regular emails or messages on LinkedIn, it will improve your writing and your approach to writing.

Built to Sell – John Warrillow

A must-read if you’re looking to build more of a lifestyle business. It teaches tons of great lessons in the form of a story, of how to grow your business and ultimately remove yourself from the equation, either to sell it or hold on as a more passive owner.

The Hard Thing About Hard Things: Building a Business When There Are No Easy Answers – Ben Horowitz

A must-read if you’re starting or running a tech company. Ben goes in-depth with great suggestions on the hardest parts of running a company, most of which are applicable to tech and non-tech businesses.

Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future – Ashlee Vance

Similar to Shoe Dog, this is an incredible story of an entrepreneur who never gave up. The big difference? Elon has started and succeeded in multiple businesses, many of which have completely changed the world. A must for any type of entrepreneur.

Any of Richard Branson’s autobiographies, I recommend starting here

Richard’s story is a great one, and his writing and approach to life/business is incredible. Very entertaining reads with lots to learn from.
